My Personal Destructobot

Broken Heart from Bing Images I don’t know about you, but when I spend a good ten minutes building a Mega Blocks tower, I get a little upset when a miniature dinosaur tears it down in one fell swoop. Or when I invest my noblest of efforts in the next Crayola masterpiece, it irks me when the artist across the table decides to scribble black marker across my work. Don’t get me started on what happens when when a pint-sized tornado strikes after that last puzzle piece is finally in place. And when I finish folding that mountain of laundry, it’s always a race to put it away before the junior bulldozer shows up.

It’s no wonder I’ve affectionately nicknamed my son “the Destructobot.” If something’s in his way, never fear. He can topple it in no time flat.

The good news is, just about everything he destroys can be put back together again. The bad news is, I’m usually the one who has to do the putting together.

We live in a broken, messed up world. Hard as we work trying to put things together, they fall apart again in our hands. Especially when it comes to relationships.

But there is good news. You might feel broken, but you are not beyond repair. Your life might look like a pile of impossible puzzle pieces, but it can be pieced together. Your relationships might be shattered, but they can be restored. God holds the broken pieces of your life. And not only can he put it back together…he desires to.

“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
